So far, September has been one of our busiest months to date in terms of successive new releases. With an average monthly release rate of over two per month, we are heading into the fourth release currently and may have a fifth before the month end!
With new releases there are always a number of new features as well as bug fixes from the previous version. This month has seen one new feature that has helped create a timeline of how Squeegee has grown over time, which is a list of historic release notes with dates. This can be found on the about screen and new release notes will always now pop up the first time you open the app after an update.
To keep on top of new releases, follow us one one (or all) of our social media channels as we always publish a post informing our followers when you can update to the latest version.
Users can now send SMS messages, payment requests and appointment reminders to their customers from Squeegee using their own phone allowance. This means that there's no longer a need to have a connected account with an external provider for an extra cost. The feature is currently marked as beta as it works extremely smoothly on android devices, but due to limitations on ios, it currently requires showing the native message app for each notification taking up more time for bulk reminders. We are now looking into a WhatsApp integration to improve on this for ios users.
The weather icons above each day on the work planner have been a long standing feature of Squeegee giving users an indication of what to expect for the week ahead. The newest addition to this in version 1.1.5 which is about to be released, is the maximum and minimum temperatures that will be displayed on the current day in the menu, as well as an option to add these figures to the icons on the work planner. This option can be switched on or off from the work planner options menu found from the three dots in the top right of the work planner view.
In version 1.1.5 which is about to be released, improvements have been added to invoices, a more professional view from the preview being the first. Many commercial customers demand invoices as a PDF so now when invoices are emailed, there are 'view online' and 'Download PDF' links within the email. In addition to this, users can now send a link to invoices using SMS. Lastly, users will now have the option to send invoices automatically upon job completion so not only will the invoice generate, it will go straight to the customer then and there.
Along with the ability to send messages to customers from users own device allowances, in a future release they'll be able to share invoices enabling them to be sent via different messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. This ties in with another planned feature allowing users to signup and login using their social sign in from Facebook, Twitter, Google etc making it one less password to remember!
We're also hoping that the much anticipated Enterprise plan will be released by the end of September. Phase one will give users the ability to have permissions set on different connected accounts, allowing there to be 'admins' and 'workers' then over time more features will be added such as time tracking, geofencing, geotracking and task lists.
