Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

 

We have a great deal of development and coding experience working with a number of large multi-national companies to produce web, desktop, and mobile applications.

 

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

 

The most challenging aspect of developing Squeegee is scaling it. We went from a few dozen registered businesses to tens of thousands in a little over 2 years.

The following apps have inspired us to create the best user experience we can.

 

Monzo

 

It's clean, simple and your data is updated instantly as it changes. This feedback is very satisfying when you make payments, transfer funds and receive money and we have the same responsive feel in Squeegee when jobs are created, updated, assigned, invoiced, etc.

 

Todist

 

This Task scheduling app has very similar opinions on the way work should be completed and it's slick user interface has been a good source of inspiration.

 

Flipboard

 

The Flipboard news app exemplifies the type of minimal user interaction requirements we strive for. Simple swiping to achieve the majority of actions in the app, it's just brilliant!


 

How long have you been working on this app?

 

We started working on the app in early 2017 releasing the first test/free version soon after. Our official launch of the paid app was in November of 2017.

 

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

 

The entire app is built around the idea of the service worker themselves doing their own admin as they go, to remove the need for admin staff to do this at a later time. Workers are able to mark off completed work, skip jobs, take signatures, generate invoices, notify customers and much more and for the most part large part, this is done automatically as a result of them using the app.

 

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market?Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

 

The feature which most sets us apart from our competitors is the real-time nature of the data. When your workers complete work, you immediately know where and when as well as any notes, updates, etc on the job they have left. This required a great deal of technical work to allow it to function on such a large scale and it is great seeing it in action in teams.

 

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

 

We cannot talk about all upcoming features due to the sensitive nature of this information, however, there are a couple of features that we are already getting public feedback about as we build them:

 

Our most anticipated new feature is the customer portal. This will allow the clients of our customers to access their job histories, invoices, etc in real-time and contact their service provider for updates with all information fed back directly into Squeegee. They will also be able to book new jobs, make payments and alterations to their existing services without the need to contact their service provider directly.

 

We are also in the process of completing our final accounting features including bank reconciliation. This will enable some of our customers to move away from needing an additional accounting package saving them a great deal of money and time each year.
