Bathurst Wheelie Bin Cleaning is a family-owned business operating in NSW, Australia. We spoke to Amy Vickers, who recently took over the business with her husband, Hugh.

Bathurst Wheelie Bin cleaning has been operating for over 30 years. We purchased the business about 18 months ago as the original owner prepared for retirement. One of the first changes we knew we had to make was to move away from the original manual, index card-based system.. and that's where Squeegee came in!”

The Service “Our aim is to combine eco-friendly, affordable and highly convenient service with genuine local care. As a family-owned and operated business, we take pride in offering a personal touch that larger providers often overlook.

If our customers have a long driveway, we will offer to take their bins back up to the house. If other customers prefer their bins inverted to drip dry, we have all preferences noted in Squeegee with a hashbang #! (love that feature!) We make it our goal to personalise the service.

We sanitise and deodorise bins on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis, with environmentally friendly products that are safe for homes, pets and the planet.

We also provide multiple flexible payment options making it easy for every household to access our services, regardless of budget or schedule. Our combination of efficiency, quality and care, paired with a fully mobile and customer-focused approach, makes us the most convenient and reliable choice in our region.”

Growing the business “Many of our customers have discovered us through social media, and lots more have come from simply seeing the distinctive bin cleaning truck out on the road and watching the service in action.

We have promoted the business through the local newspaper, Facebook, Instagram and our website, which continues to generate a stream of enquiries.

We were also recognised at the Local Business Awards recently and took home the prize for Excellence in Micro Business category and were also Finalists in Excellence in Customer Service sector. These achievements have boosted visibility and built public trust and goodwill within the community.

Why Squeegee? “We have been using Squeegee from the beginning of our business ownership. We spent a long time researching software but Squeegee ticked all the boxes for what we needed, especially the scheduling and invoicing capabilities. We watched every single one of the training videos online and found the software easy to use. We love being able to see from the office how many jobs are left, the automatic invoicing and the ability to manually invoice our account customers.

Our primary goal was to improve efficiency and communication across our team, our biggest challenge was that our drivers and admin team were operating from separate systems, drivers relied on index cards while admin managed bookings and records separately. This gap created inefficiencies and increased the risk of errors so we set a milestone to transition to a cloud based fully integrated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system that would centralise customer data and enable real-time access for both drivers and admin.

After careful research and planning, we implemented Squeegee and trained our team to use it. Now, our drivers can access the same up-to-date information as the office team on the road, including customer preferences, special requests and cleaning schedules. It has meant we can continue offering the high-quality, personalised service we pride ourselves on and be more efficient and professional. The move to digital has saved time and reduced errors and has positioned us for continued growth.”

The Future “Looking ahead we want to expand our commercial services and look at building relationships with local businesses so we can provide the same great service to them too.”
